STEPHENVILLE – Fresh off a win in its season opener, California Baptist University volleyball is set to begin Western Athletic Conference play at Tarleton State this week.
The Lancers will hit the road for the first time this year to take on the Texans for the first time. TSU is in the first year of its transition to NCAA Division I after proving to be a strong competitor in Division II.
After its original conference and season opener versus Utah Valley was postponed due to the program's COVID-19 protocols and safety measures, CBU took to the court for the first time to host Life Pacific in a non-conference match on Friday.
CBU secured the victory in four sets (25-14, 19-25, 25-19, 25-11). The Lancers served tough, with 11 aces, and posted a .400 attack percentage in the match.
Christine Graf, Calissa Hoye and Sydney Marks paced the offense, as all three had at least 12 kills and hitting percentages at .435 or above. Graf led the way with a match-high 15 kills on a .583 percentage (15-1-24). Hoye finished with 14 kills on a .522 clip (14-2-23). Marks rounded out the group with 12 kills on a .435 mark (12-2-23).
