IRVINE --- California Baptist University completed the series sweep against Dixie State on Saturday, as the Lancers beat the Trailblazers, 2-0.
"We are so proud of the players this weekend, as they demonstrated impressive strength of will and resolve to earn the six points," said head coach Kristen St. Clair. "Overcoming adversity of playing two games in three days with a shorthanded roster due to safety measures showed tremendous grit and heart. This was an important test for us being a young team and will serve us well going forward. Romy and our backline were stellar, keeping us in the game until we could break through for the first goal. We'll enjoy this tonight and begin preparing for Seattle on Monday."
The Lancers put their stamp on the all-time series against the Trailblazers, moving the streak to three in a row and an 11-2 advantage in the series matchup. With the win, the Lancers improve to 4-0-1 on the year and 2-0 in the WAC, while Dixie State falls to 0-4-1 and 0-2 in the WAC.
The first half had a familiar feeling to Thursday's matchup, as both teams went in the break scoreless.
It was a battle from start to finish, as both teams came out extremely physical and looking to take charge of possession and offensive opportunities.
The Lancers were finally able to breakthrough in the 76th minute after Amy Aquino played a ball to Madison Sonerholm on the left side of the box. Sonerholm gathered the ball and quickly decided to sneak a pass by the Trailblazers' defender and keeper, finding a wide-open Jayden Ramirez in front of an empty net. Ramirez slid to bury the ball for the first goal of the game.

Romy Salvador, who earned her fifth straight start for the Lancers in the net, recorded two big saves between the sticks, keeping the clean sheet alive.
Salvador vacuumed up a save and sent a ball forward to Rola Badawiya with only minutes left on the game clock. With the defense caught off guard, Badawiya controlled the long pass from Salvador and flicked a ball forward to Aquino, who had a one-on-one opportunity with the Trailblazers' keeper.
