STOCKTON --- California Baptist University traveled up north on Saturday, as the Lancers grabbed their second win of the season in a 3-1 showing over Pacific (CA).
The Lancers open the spring schedule at 2-0, which marks the third-straight season the Lancers have won their first two games. Saturday's contest was the season opener for Pacific, as the Tigers start their year at 0-1.
"We're a young team, and this trip is a good early test to see where we are and what aspects need refinement moving forward," said head coach Kristen St. Clair. "Great goals and composure by Karley, Ari, and Amy. I thought we had good moments on both sides of the ball, but we need to keep working on our consistency going into conference."
The first half was an all-out battle for all 45 minutes, as neither team could find the back of the net.
Romy Salvador came up big for the Lancers after 10 minutes of play, providing a crucial save to keep the game scoreless.

Both teams went into half at 0-0, but CBU was able to get eight shots on goal to the Tigers' one.
The second half opened up with the same competitive play, but Karley Weeks opened up the scoring at the 55th minute after a Lancer corner kick. It marked her first goal of the season after recording one assist in the 5-0 win over Saint Katherine on Feb. 3.

After the Week's goal, the Lancers wasted no time applying more pressure to the Tigers' backline. Two minutes later, the ball was played forward, and Weeks and the Tigers' keeper had a 50/50 inside the box, causing the ball to move to the left in front of Ari Coronado, providing an open net in front of her. Coronado played a perfect strike to miss a Tiger defender and score the second goal of the game.

Pacific wouldn't go down without a fight, though, as the home team found the back of the net at the 70th minute.
With only a one-goal separation, the Lancers made sure to put the game out of reach in the final five minutes. A free-kick was awarded just outside the box, and Makayla Soll and Ari Coronado provided a wall in front of Amy Aquino. Soll tapped the ball to Aquino, who then hit a high bending shot to the top right corner of the net to put the game away for good.
