RIVERSIDE – The Lancers will attempt again to make their series with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley happen this weekend after the two teams tried to move up their matchup a few weeks ago, but were halted by positive COVID tests within the Vaquero tier 1 group. CBU is coming off of another conference series sweep, this time over New Mexico State, defeating the Aggies 94-53 in game one and 70-51 in game two.
Friday's blowout victory also marked Head Coach Jarrod Olson's 200th career win as the CBU leader. Olson reached the mark in just 270 games, and his current 201-70 record (74.1 winning percentage) is by far the highest mark in program history.
Leading the Lancers to victory over the Aggies was a combination of Ane Olaeta who average 12 points and eight assists, and Caitlyn Harper who recorded 17 points on 63.6% shooting and five rebounds per game.
When the dust from the weekend's NCAA action had cleared the already small number of undefeated teams shrank from three to two as UC Davis fell to #12 Oregon, 63-57. That leaves CBU (16-0, 8-0 WAC) and Bucknell (8-0, 8-0 Patriot League) as the only two remaining unbeatens. Bucknell had last weekend's games postponed due to positive COVID tests, which means their active win streak stalled at 17 in-a-row while the Lancers were able to add to theirs, reaching 19-straight. They trail only inactive Princeton on the list as the Tigers remain at 22.

The Vaqueros are coming off a pair of loses against Grand Canyon last weekend in Phoenix, marking a five-game losing streak. Amara Graham led the efforts for UTRGV against the Lopes with team-high scoring in each game with 13 and 21.
UTRGV shot just 4-21 (19.0%) from three-point land, a mark that seems unlikely to improve this weekend against the Lancers conference leading three-point defense. The all-time series between these two team stands at 2-2 with the two sides splitting their series over the past two season, each winning at home.
