RIVERSIDE – Top Drawer Soccer released its annual Freshman Best XI teams and Lancer newcomer Thomas Beecham was named to the Second Team. This accolade adds to Beecham's growing award list, as he has already received second-team honors from the Western Athletic Conference and the United Soccer Coaches Far West Region.
Thomas started all 12 games for the Lancers, anchoring a stout Lancer defense from his center back station. He averaged over 90 minutes of playing time per game this season, providing not only great play, but reliability as well. Beecham managed to record three points on the season, first scoring in the season opener against Houston Baptist on February 28, before assisting the game-winner in the season finale at Utah Valley on April 9.
"I've been saying for a while that not only are we one of the youngest teams in the country, but we have some of the best young players in the country. Thomas' recognition as a freshman All-American affirms that sentiment and is a testament not only to him but to the whole group," said Head Men's Soccer Coach Coe Michaelson. "I'm proud of his accomplishment, very happy for him, and excited to see him progress over the next three years as he and his teammates grow into a top team together."
