RIVERSIDE – The California Baptist University women's soccer team got hot on a brisk night at CBU Soccer Stadium, scoring three unanswered goals in the final 50 minutes of action to earn a 3-1 win over Tarleton State.
The Texans opened the scoring in the 19th minute, sneaking a goal into the bottom left corner of the goal to take a 1-0 lead.
"It's not how you start, it's how you finish," said CBU head coach Kristen St. Clair. "I was impressed with our team's fortitude to play and work through a slow start."
CBU found an equalizer moments before halftime when Elizabeth Oglesby headed in a cross from Summer Allen in the 40th minute.

The second half was the Lourdes Bosch show as the senior netted her team-leading fifth and sixth goals of the season to lead the Lancers past the young Texans. Bosch has scored a goal or provided an assist in eight of the 11 games she has played for CBU this season. Now up to 17 points on the year, Bosch ranks among the top three in the WAC.

"Our response and performance in the second half was very good and I thought we could have scored at least 2-3 more goals that narrowly escaped the back of the net," said St. Clair. "Our defenders and midfielders did a good job winning and distributing the ball while our attackers did a good job beating their defenders and getting in good supporting spaces. Noa and Mikayla also did well in goal tonight."
The Texans drop to 4-6-3 on the year and are still searching for their first Western Athletic Conference win, now sitting at 0-3-2. The Lancers improve to 6-3-3 overall, with a 3-2-1 conference tally.
"We picked up an important three points and now turn our focus and preparation toward our next opponent on Sunday," added St Clair.
CBU will return to the pitch against Abilene Christian on Sunday, October 16, hosting the Wildcats for what has become a rare matinee game at the CBU Soccer Stadium scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
