The Lancers Get Ready for the Matadors and Huskies in Week 2

RIVERSIDE— The men's basketball team will kick off their second week of the season with two intriguing matchups against CSUN and Washington.
The Lancers went 1-1 on the opening week with a loss to Long Beach State and a win over NJIT. The Lancers were led in scoring by sophomore point guard Taran Armstrong who scored 30 points in the two games to go along with 13 rebounds and eight assists. Transfers Joe Quintana and Hunter Goodrick, who did not play in the opener vs. LBSU, gave the Lancers a significant boost in their game against NJIT, scoring 30 points combined in the win.
In the win over NJIT, CBU held the Highlanders to the lowest point total of any Division 1 opponent they have faced in program history, holding them to 43 points. The Lancers shot 47% from the field and out-rebounded their opponent 28-22 to grab their first win of the season.
CBU men's basketball now looks forward to its second-ever matchup against CSUN. The Matadors and Lancers' only meeting came in 2004 when CSUN defeated CBU 79-60 in Northridge.
The Matadors also went 1-1 on their opening week, defeating La Sierra in their home opener 90-55 and losing to Utah Tech on the road 69-63. CSUN has three players who averaged double figures, led by Murray State transfer Dionte Bostick who averaged 17 points per game on 44% shooting. The Matadors were picked to finish 11th in the Big West preseason poll and are returning five players from last season.

The Lancer's second game of the week will be on the road to face the Washington Huskies in Seattle, WA. The Huskies were picked to finish ninth in a loaded PAC-12 and are coming off a season in which they went 17-15 and finished seventh in the conference.
Washington is coming off an undefeated opening week in which they defeated Weber State 69-52 and North Florida 75-67 at home. The Huskies were led in scoring by Kentucky transfer Keion Brooks Jr. (20 ppg) and true freshman Keyon Menifield (14.5 ppg).
The Huskies and the Lancers have never met before, and this will mark the fourth consecutive season that the men's basketball team has faced an opponent from the PAC-12.
