
Lancers Fall in Hard-Fought Overtime Loss to Minnesota

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO: After a historic win on Thursday against the Washington Huskies, the Lancers headed back to Southern California to face the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the SoCal Challenge in San Juan Capistrano. The Golden Gophers escaped in overtime 62-61 after leading by as many as 15 in the game.

The Lancers and the Golden Gophers were both 3-1 heading into the contest and battled each other for 50 minutes of intense and competitive basketball. There were six lead changes in the chaotic final six minutes of the game (including overtime)

The Gophers led at half in a low-scoring affair 26-18. Hunter Goodrick led all players with eight first-half rebounds and chipped in five points off the bench. After early foul trouble, Taran Armstrong got in early foul trouble but came out roaring in the second half and overtime, scoring all 24 of his points in the half and pulling in six rebounds. Armstrong hit the game-tying three, eventually sending the game to overtime tied at 53 with 58 seconds left.
NEXT UP: The Lancers will face the UNLV/Southern Illinois loser in the consolation bracket of the SoCal Challenge on Wednesday.
