Lancers Close Out Home Season with Dual Doubleheader Sweep

RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University wrestling closed out its home season with a pair of dual victories over San Francisco State and Life Pacific on Saturday.
The Lancers shutout both of their opponents, with a 56-0 win over the Gators and 59-0 victory on top of the Warriors. All of the victories came on bonus points, as well.
CBU improves to 2-8 in duals on the year and have two more competitions left on their schedule. SFSU is now 1-8 and LPU drops to 1-7.
California Baptist will close out the season with a dual doubleheader in Illinois against SIUE and Northern Illinois on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. and noon Pacific, respectively.
A total of 11 forfeits benefited the Lancers on Saturday, which left only a handful of wrestlers with multiple matches. Arick Lopez won both of his matches with falls, while Caden Gerlach won both of his matches on a pin and technical fall.
Chris Island and Hunter Leake also had pins in the Life Pacific dual. Johann Steinforth and Frank Almaguer notched technical falls in their wins against SFSU, while Devin Garcia also had a major decision on the Gators.
