EUGENE--- The California Baptist University men's basketball team visited the Pacific Northwest for a road contest at Oregon against the Ducks of the PAC-12 conference. The Ducks took the contest 76-55 to keep their home record perfect and push them to 7-2 on the season.
The Lancers fall to 6-3 and suffer their first road loss. CBU still has the third-best team record in the Western Athletic Conference and is 1-1 in WAC play thus far. The matchup was the fifth time that CBU has played a PAC-12 opponent in program history, with the team holding a 1-4 record in those matchups. The one win came last season when CBU downed Washington in Seattle 73-64.
PLAY-BY-PLAY:
Both offenses struggled out of the gates, combining to score 14 points in the game's opening eight minutes of action. A 7-2 CBU run jolted the Lancers offense led by Hunter Goodrick and Blondeau Tchoukuiegno, who led the team in scoring in the opening frame.
Oregon's offense likewise came to life over the final ten minutes of the first half, scoring 24 points over that stretch. CBU and Oregon combined to score 45 points over the final period of the first half.
The Lancers shot 45% from the floor, the Ducks shot 50% in the first frame, and both shot 40% from distance.
Turnovers were a problem for CBU in the opening half, with the Oregon pressure forcing nine Lancer turnovers for a team that only turns the ball over 12 times total per game. The Lancers offset their turnovers with a +6 rebound advantage and earned ten more free-throw opportunities than Oregon in the first half.
The Ducks opened the second frame on a 5-0 run to force an early CBU timeout. Oregon continued to put its foot on the gas and kept its lead at double figures for the duration of the period. Oregon shot 54% from the floor in the second half compared to 28% from CBU. Dominique Daniels Jr. came to life in the second half after a quiet opening period, leading the Lancers with seven points on 11 made field goals. The Ducks would close out the Lancers 76-55 to pick up the home win.

STATISTICAL NOTABLES:
Daniels Jr. led the Lancers in scoring for the fifth time this season, with 13 points on five made field goals. Goodrick chipped in ten points and eight rebounds before fouling out midway through the second half.
The rebounding battle was close all night long, but Oregon would win the battle 34-33, however, CBU would win the offensive glass 12-6. The Ducks outscored the Lancers 40-24 in the second half and shot 52% from the floor versus 35% for the Lancers. The Ducks held sizable advantages in bench scoring (+25) and points off of turnovers (+9), both of which hurt CBU in the final result.
COACH'S CORNER:
"I thought we prepared well and our leadership was really good, but we needed to play much better. We liked our talk and our resolve tonight, which were things we didn't see on Wednesday. We competed well, but we didn't play well, so now it's time to get back to work", said Head Coach Rick Croy following the loss.
NEXT: The Lancers will return to Riverside to compete in the crosstown showdown against UC Riverside at the SRC Arena on Saturday, December 15, at 5 PM.
