RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University women's water polo put another in the win column today, defeating the Red Flash of Saint Francis University 14-4 at the Lancer Aquatics Center. It is the most single-season wins since 2019, when the team went 15-18.
Over half of the Lancer goals came from the Hutton sisters, as both Jamie and Emaly scored four on Saturday morning. Emaly put up CBU's first two goals, while Jamie secured her hat trick before halftime. Jamie leads the team in goals (47), assists (19), and points (66), with Emaly trailing not far behind in each category.
Grace Bergquist netted a pair, and Cayleigh Carter, Dora Lehoczky, Celeste Almendariz, and Morgan Gates accounted for one score each. Ava Ratajczak went the distance between the pipes in today's win, stopping a season-high 10 shots while allowing just four goals.
The result was never in doubt, as CBU held the Red Flash to just one score per period. The Lancers took a 6-2 advantage into halftime, adding three more in the third and scoring a game-high five goals in the final frame. The Lancer defense was stout, with the field coming up with seven steals to make Ratajczak's day that much easier.
Next on the schedule for CBU is a trip to Los Angeles to take on Loyola Marymount University. The Lions are currently ranked T16 in NCAA Division I. That game is set for a 2:00 p.m. start time on March 24.
