Lancers Battle Lions in LA

LOS ANGELES--- The California Baptist University women's water polo team faced their 13th-ranked opponent of the season as they matched up with the #16 Loyola Marymount Lions on the road. The Lions defended their home pool with a 13-8 win.
The loss pushes CBU back to .500 at 14-14 with four matches to go in the regular season. The Lions moved to 4-0 in conference play and notched their ninth win as the 16th-ranked team.
Jamie Hutton scored four first-half goals on seven shots, with teammates Maddie Schwegler and Abby Mammen each adding their own goal. The Lions led 8-6 after two periods.
The Lions controlled the second half, only allowing CBU to score two goals in the final two periods, scored by Schwegler and Cayleigh Carter, to win 13-8.
Hutton's four goals marked her eighth hat trick of the season and brought her season total to 49 goals, leading the Lancers. Schwegler was the other Lancer to record multiple goals with two on four shots. Goalkeeper Ava Ratajczak recorded six saves on the afternoon, tied for her third-highest of the season.
Next, the Lancers will travel to Irvine to face Concordia (Irvine) on Friday, March 31st, at noon.
