Lancers Win Home Opening Series Before Conference Play Begins

The Lancers led off strong by notching the first run of the night in the bottom of the first inning after Julian Alvarez stole home. Seton Hall tied the game in the second inning off a single home run to left field. The squads also put up two runs each in the fourth inning, keeping it a tied game until the seventh inning.
Jacob Wilson entered the game in the seventh inning and got the Lancers out of a loaded bases situation with three strikeouts to keep the score tied. California Baptist got down to business, and Alvarez started the inning with a walk to get on base. He then stole second, and Garret Ostrander singled through the right side to send Alvarez home. After Cole Howarth singled and moved Ostrander to third, Mitchel Simon also singled and collected an RBI off Ostrander's run. Howarth would go on to score during a fielder's choice play, and Simon added the fourth run of the inning after an error from the Pirates.

Seton Hall attempted a comeback in the eighth inning after scoring a run off a double but was stopped short by two strikeouts from the Lancer's pitching staff. California Baptist secured the series win with a final run in the eighth inning with a sacrifice bunt from Ostrander to send CJ Masciel home.
Michael Carpentier improved his hitting streak to eight games, with Simon not far behind with a six-game hitting streak as well. Wilson ends the evening as the winning pitcher, moving his record to 4-0 on the season.

The Lancers are headed to Edinburg, Texas, where they will take on the University of Texas Rio Grande in the first weekend of WAC play. California Baptist will face the Vaqueros at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10th, in the first game of the three-game series.
