Lancers Battle Matadors in Midweek Tilt

Mitchel Simon's single home run in his first at bat of the day helped the Lancers strike first against the Matadors. The junior clocked in with two hits and an RBI on the day, as well his tenth home run of the season. CSUN responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to snag a 2-1 lead but Drew Necochea held the Matadors scoreless through the third inning and notched three strikeouts during his time on the mound.
California Baptist tied the game with another single shot home run from Dustin Garcia, marking his ninth of the year. The Matadors ultimately took the lead in the fourth inning with the help of two doubles and tallied eight more runs in the sixth and seventh inning to lock in a win at home. Shayne Simpson rounded out the game with his first home run of the season sent over the right field fence.
The Lancers will head to Las Cruces, New Mexico for a weekend conference series against the Aggies, beginning on Thursday at 5 p.m. PST.
