Lancers Drop Saturday Contest to UTA

Jacob Wilson started on the mound for the Lancers, earning his second start of the season. The right-handed pitcher had an impressive five innings, allowing only three hits and throwing just 63 pitches. CBU's offense continued to battle the UTA pitching staff that held the game scoreless through the fourth, but after a single to get on base, McGuire came up big in the fifth inning and safely made it home on a wild pitch for the lead.

The Mavericks were able to steal the lead after loading the bases in the bottom of the eighth and bringing in three runs, going ahead by two. Dustin Garcia got to work right away in the top of the ninth and hit a solo shot over the right-field fence to cut the Lancer's deficit to one. Just after, Nicholas Dumesnil collected his third hit of the day with a single to get himself on base. Moved to third after another hit, Jake Skipworth dropped a perfect single into center field and picked up the tying RBI after Dumesnil came home. The Lancers ultimately couldn't pull off the comeback after UTA hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth for the win.
