RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist men's golf program will compete in the Ironwood Collegiate Classic in Greenville, North Carolina, on Monday and Tuesday for their second event of the fall season. The Lancers are coming off a ninth-place finish at the Nick Watney Tournament last week and will be looking for their first top-five finish of the season.
This will be the first time the Lancers will compete in the Ironwood Collegiate Classic, hosted by Eastern Carolina at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club. The squad will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday for the two-day tournament. The 200-acre course spans 7,102 yards and is a par 72 course designed to challenge golfers across the contours of the land and scenic views of the Tar River. The 14th hole even has a pond that appears to be in the middle of the fairway, which can be played around or over for a shorter shot to the flag.
The Lancers will travel Eeli Kujanpää, Fred Tindale, Kurtis Rodriguez, Sean Citherlet, and Luke Bartram for this tournament. Kujanpaa came away from the Nick Watney Invitational with the lowest score of the Lancers, completing the final round with a 2-over-par score for a 208 finish. Tindale was not far behind with a final stroke count of 220, and Rodriguez finished out the top three Lancers with an even-par (213).
The Lancers finish out the Nick Watney Invitational with a ninth place finish as Eeli Kujanpää finished with the lowest CBU score of the tournament at 5-under (208)👏#LanceUp⚔️ pic.twitter.com/MK5SZzYQjM
