PHOENIX, ARIZ--- The California Baptist men's golf team competed in the Grand Canyon Invitational this week and came away with their best finish of the season after ending in fourth out of 16 programs. This is the second time the Lancers have finished in the top five during a tournament this season.
Kurtis Rodriguez had the best start of the tournament on Tuesday morning, carding a 1-under par first-round finish. Both Sean Citherlet and Eeli Kujanpää finished even with par on the par 71 course after the first 18 holes. The second round began on Tuesday afternoon for the two-day tournament and four Lancers finished even or under par. Fred Tindale and Kujanpa shot an even 71 score to end the first day, while Luke Bartram picked up a 2-under par (69) to finish the second round. Citherlet went low during the second round and ended with CBU's lowest score of the day at 68.

Citherlet continued his low shooting during the third round on Wednesday morning, ending with a tournament-low 5-under par to card a fifth-place finish. Rodriguez also righted the sails after a tough second round and ended the last day with a 69 final score, which was good for an 18th-place finish. Bartram finished even with par and a 28th-place ranking, while Kunjanpaa and Tindale both finished tied for 63rd.
The fourth-place finish is not only a season-high for the Lancers, but Citherlet's fifth-place finish is also an individual-high this season. California Baptist is set to return to the course on March 28th, as the Lancers head north to compete in The Goodwin hosted by Stanford.
