NORTHRIDGE, CA--- Mitchel Simon and Josh Paino did what they do best on Tuesday afternoon against CSUN and each launched a pair of homers over the left field wall, guiding the California Baptist baseball program to its 20th win this season. The Lancers took down the Matadors for a second time this year and posted a 12-4 final score, only this time at CSUN. CBU improves to 20-13 on the year, while CSUN drops to 17-13 this season.
Matthew Darr got things going for the Lancers in the second inning after driving in Connor McGuire with a hit up the middle that got away from the Matador's second baseman. The home team would even things in the bottom of the second, but Paino quickly regained the lead for CBU with a no-doubt homer for his first of the day. Simon knocked his first dinger in the top of the fourth and collected his tenth of the season in the fifth after hitting the first pitch of his at-bat out of the park with the bases loaded.

The Matadors added three more runs to the board throughout the game, but it was no match for the Lancer's red-hot bats. Nicholas Dumesnil and Paino wrapped up the day with a pair of back-to-back home runs in the top of the eighth that secured the 12-4 victory on the road.

The Lancers notched a 2-0 record over CSUN this season after walking off the Matadors at Totman Stadium earlier this year and have now taken three of the last four match-ups in the all-time series. Paino led the offense for CBU on Tuesday with three hits across five at-bats while picking up four RBI. Simon ended the day with two hits, two runs, and five RBI against CSUN for a new season high. It was a bullpen day for CBU, but true freshman Noah Smith was a highlight during the game for the Lancers after he threw a pair of innings and sat down three Matadors for a season-high.
Head Coach Gary Adcock's squad will now turn their attention to Western Athletic Conference play this weekend as they welcome Stephen F. Austin for a three-game homestand, beginning on Friday evening at 6 p.m.
