KANNAPOLIS, NC--- The California Baptist men's golf program headed to North Carolina at the start of the week to compete in the Irish Creek Classic as the regular season winds down. The Lancers finished tied for fifth as a team, but Fred Tindale earned his first CBU individual win after playing five playoff holes to take first.
Kurtis Rodriguez carded the lowest round during the first day of the two-day event, ending the Irish Creek Collegiate in 32nd. Luke Bartram scored 1-over par during the second round as Tindale picked up his lowest round of the tournament after going 3-under (67). Ka'ena Kaulia ended his time in North Carolina with a 41st placement, while Eeli Kujanpää finished in 55th. Sean Citherlet tallied a 229 final score to tie for 80th at the Irish Creek Classic.
Tindale continued his low ways into the third round on Tuesday morning, finishing even with par, and tied for first with two other golfers. The trio competed in three playoff holes and on the fourth go-around, only Justin Larue from Longwood and Tindale continued. After Larue made a bogey putt, the CBU graduate student secured the team's first individual champion this season with a six-foot par putt for the win.
The Lancers will end their regular season at the El Macero Classic in Davis, California, in mid-April before the Western Athletic Conference Tournament at the end of the month.
