ARLINGTON, TX--- The Western Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners on Tuesday afternoon and named all three awards to the California Baptist women's soccer team. Summer Allen, Anja Jestrovic, and Mikayla O'Brien were named as the defensive, offensive, and goalkeeper of the week following an impressive road trip to Utah last week. This is the Lancer's first offensive and defensive weekly awards this season, and O'Brien's fourth honor this year.
Allen posted an impressive week from the backline after CBU took down both Southern Utah and Utah Tech during the third week of WAC play. Allen's efforts on defense limited both squads to just 10 shots total, while also picking up a pair of shutouts. On the other side of the field, Jestrovic wowed with a pair of goals and an assist in Utah. The junior attacker set up Ava Westlund for the game-winner against SUU before finding the back of the net twice on Sunday against the Trailblazers.
O'Brien set a new record for most weekly honors during the Division I Era for the Lancers after picking up her fourth this week. The senior goalkeeper secured a pair of shutouts with four saves to keep CBU in second in the WAC standings, improving their conference record to 3-1.
California Baptist will welcome Utah Valley to the CBU Soccer Stadium for their final regular-season match against the Wolverines on Saturday evening.
