RIVERSIDE--- Ben Castelli and Nicholas Dumesnil led the California Baptist baseball program to victory on Tuesday evening against San Diego State University after lifting five home runs for a 13-3 midweek win. The Lancers improve to 11-10 on the season, while SDSU drops to 6-15.

Dumesnil got things going early for the Lancers after shooting his first homer of the night 420 feet over the center field wall to put CBU on the board. A single from Andrew Walters set Castelli up for his first multi-run home run of the night, increasing the Lancer lead to 3-0. Dumesnil collected his second RBI of the night with a well-placed single that brought home Julian Alvarez, just before Castelli would clear the bases again with his second dinger of the night. The top of the fourth inning saw Dumesnil lace one to left center and Castelli knock his final dinger of the evening to extend CBU's lead to nine. The final two runs of the night came from an RBI double off Dumesnil's bat and a Walters sacrifice fly.

The Aztecs managed to put three on the board to keep the game within 10 runs, scoring by way of throwing error, RBI single, and RBI double. Unfortunately, the SDSU offense could not get their bats going to cut into the Lancer lead. CBU's pitching staff delivered eight strikeouts, while only giving out three walks and one hit-by-pitch. Castelli's night at the plate marks the first time since 2019 a single Lancer has hit three homers in a single game, while the five home runs is the most in a single game from the squad this season in a single game. Dumesnil led the way for offense after going four-for-five at the plate, while Castelli went three-for-four.

The California Baptist baseball team will now turn its attention to the weekend as they welcome Utah Tech to Totman Stadium for the first Western Athletic Conference series of the 2025 season.
