Allen Named 2025 WAC Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the Year

ARLINGTON, TX--- The Western Athletic Conference announced the first preseason awards of the 2025-2026 athletic year this afternoon, citing a pair of California Baptist women's soccer players to be included in the honors. Summer Allen was selected as the 2025 Co-Defensive Player of the Year, while Kaylee Hauck was selected to the preseason All-WAC Team.
Allen enters the 2025 season as a senior defender, looking to help lead the Lancers back to the WAC Tournament Championship for another chance at an NCAA Tournament appearance. The defender started in 20 games last season and helped CBU limit opponents to just 20 goals on the season with seven shutouts. Allen was also named to the WAC All-Tournament team for her efforts during the Lancers' stunning run for the 2024 tournament title in Texas last season, earning her a spot on the preseason All-WAC list this year.
Hauck was also pivotal in CBU's tournament wins during the 2024 postseason and earned WAC All-Tournament honors after her goal against Utah Valley secured the semifinal win for the Lancers. The senior forward posted three goals and three assists last season, stepping into more of a playmaker role to support her fellow attackers. Hauck will be expected to take the reins on goal-scoring this year and should rise to the occasion on the heels of her selection to the preseason All-WAC team.
The WAC Coaches poll saw Utah Valley voted to take first this season, with California Baptist just behind with a pair of votes. Other major award winners include Faith Webber from Utah Valley as Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Taylor Nelson from Utah Valley being selected the other Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and Mikayla Kendall from Tarleton State picked as the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
