Lancers Earn Record 10th Shutout in Draw at CSUN
10/17/2026 10:09:00 PM | Women's Soccer
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – CBU earned its 10th shutout of the season Saturday night, setting a new program Division I-era record in a 0-0 draw.
The 10th shutout surpasses the previous program Division I-era record of nine, set by the 2025 team.
"I'm really proud of the heart and fight our team showed tonight, the best all season," said head coach Kristen St. Clair.
"We outworked our opponents, won 50/50, and 1v1 duels. If it weren't for a few key saves by their keeper this would have been a 3-0 game. We dominated in every area tonight just couldn't find the breakthrough goal. Sometimes when goals are not happening the way players want them too it's normal to start pressing the issue more, but I was impressed with our team's resolve and discipline to keep relentlessly attacking our opponent. We're close, right on the cusp of breaking through on the goals front. We need to keep focusing on our process and what we can control."
CSUN entered the matchup with one of the Big West's most potent offenses, but the Lancers' defense held firm throughout the night to keep the Matadors off the scoreboard.
The teams traded chances in the first half, with senior forward Tyra King testing the goalkeeper in the opening seconds. Senior midfielder Anja Jestrovic followed with a shot that struck the crossbar, while goalkeeper Mikayla O'Brien made several saves to keep the match scoreless.
CBU continued to apply pressure after halftime, earning multiple corner kicks early in the second half and creating additional opportunities in the closing minutes. Jestrovic put a shot on target in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper made the save. The Lancers continued to push forward late, but the match ended in a draw.
O'Brien recorded five saves for her fifth shutout of the season and 19th of her career. Senior Jessica Ramirez finished with two shots, including one on goal, while King and Jestrovic each recorded four shots and one on target.
The Lancers earned a point to move to six points in Big West play, tied with Sacramento State and two points outside a playoff position.
CBU returns home to host UC Irvine on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
