RIVERSIDE – CBU women's soccer continues Big West play Wednesday night as the Lancers host UC Irvine at CBU Soccer Stadium.
The Lancers (6-3-4, 1-3-3) are coming off a scoreless draw at CSUN on Saturday night, while the Anteaters (4-7-3, 2-4-1) have lost three straight matches, most recently falling 2-1 to Long Beach State.
CBU and UC Irvine enter Wednesday's matchup just outside the top six in the Big West standings. The Lancers sit three points out of sixth place, and a win would improve their postseason positioning, with the top six teams advancing to the Big West Championship.

Series History
Wednesday's matchup will be the first meeting between CBU and UC Irvine.
CBU Team Analysis
The Lancers' defense turned in a strong week, allowing just one goal across two matches. Goalkeeper Mikayla O'Brien helped lead the back line to its 10th shutout of the season against CSUN, setting a new CBU Division I-era record for shutouts in a single season. The Lancers also limited Utah Valley to one goal.
CBU will look to build on its defensive success Wednesday against an Anteater offense that has scored 17 goals in 14 matches. Maintaining defensive organization and limiting scoring opportunities will be key as the Lancers look to earn a conference victory.
Offensively, the Lancers showed improvement against CSUN despite being held scoreless. CBU has not found the back of the net in its last five matches, but the team has continued to generate chances and will look to turn that attacking progress into goals against UC Irvine.
Scouting the Anteaters
UC Irvine is led offensively by Fiona Shin, who has recorded five goals and two assists, while Mimi Dominguez has added two goals and leads the team with 31 shots. The Anteaters have scored 17 goals while allowing 26 this season, presenting an opportunity for the Lancers to capitalize offensively. UC Irvine has also earned 72 corner kicks, making set-piece defense an important factor for CBU.
