CBU Keeps Up Impressive Home Record with Win over Cal State Fullerton

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University women's water polo keeps its impressive home record alive as they defeated the visiting Cal State Fullerton Titans 13-11 at the Lancer Aquatics Center on Saturday evening.
CBU improves to 12-8 overall and an impressive 6-1 at home with the win over its future Big West opponent. The Lancers also made it 4-0 over the Titans with the victory.
CBU struck first with two quick goals from Bella Raynes and Niya Bumbaca for the early lead. The Lancers would execute a key 3-0 run to end the first period and begin the second to give themselves a commanding 8-3 lead with 5:27 remaining. Fullerton responded with a 3-0 run of its own to close the first half as CBU's lead was cut to just 8-6 at the halftime intermission.
The Titans further cut into the lead to open the third period, as they would pull within one with 1:15 to go in the third period. Niya Bumbaca would deposit a clutch goal to begin the fourth quarter, while Emmie Ramirez would secure two more goals in the period to help the Lancers edge out the Titans 13-11 for the victory.
Ramirez, Raynes, and Bumbaca were an elite trio for the Lancers, accounting for eight of the team's 134 goals, and would register 13 total points. Ramirez had the hat trick with three goals and would have two assists as well, while Raynes would also have a hat trick. Bumbaca had two goals and two assists, while Beringer had three points in the middle for CBU.
NEXT: The Lancers will hit the road for a pair of GCC matches beginning with a trip to Fresno to face the Bulldogs on Friday, March 20.
