Hollingsworth Claims CBU’s Fourth Straight Pitcher of the Week Nod

RIVERSIDE --- Sophomore Annika Hollingsworth was named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The honor makes Hollingsworth the third Lancer to win the award this season and extends CBU's streak to four-straight weeks of having the best pitcher in the conference.
The Lancers played five games last week and finished 4-1. CBU's lone loss came on Saturday night against No. 23 Arizona State, ending the program's Division I era record 14-game winning streak.
Hollingsworth made three appearances in the circle last week, two being starts, as she finished 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA.
The sophomore right-hander made her first start of the week on Tuesday when the Lancers hosted San Diego at John C. Funk Stadium. Hollingsworth tossed a five-inning complete game in which she allowed three runs (one earned) across six hits and five strikeouts. CBU beat the Toreros, 12-3.
Her next start was on Saturday when the Lancers topped CSU Bakersfield, 14-0, in Tempe as part of the ASU/GCU Invitational. Hollingsworth logged another five-inning complete game as this time she tossed a shutout, allowing only four hits in the process.
Hollingsworth also made a relief appearance against Bakersfield on Friday, a shutout inning in CBU's 9-0 win.
CBU beat Bakersfield twice this weekend, both in five innings, and they also bested Wisconsin, 4-1, on Friday.
Hollingsworth is 4-0 this season with a 3.16 ERA. She has allowed one earned run or less in four of her last five appearances, including a perfect game against Hawaii on February 17.
Monday marks the fourth straight week for a CBU pitcher to be named the WAC Pitcher of the Week. Miranda De Nava began the season with back-to-back nods by the conference, and then it was Emily Darwin's turn to win the award last week.
The Lancers will be back in action on Tuesday when they welcome LMU Back to Funk Stadium. CBU will also hit the road this weekend for the Blue Collar Classic, hosted by Boise State. The Lancers will play Portland State, Boise State, St. Thomas, and Weber State (twice) during their trip to Idaho.
