SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- Christine Grover scored the game's only goal in the 38^th minute, and the NAIA's No. 10-ranked Point Loma Nazarene defense made it stand in a 1-0 win over California Baptist in the opening round of the 2006 NAIA Region II Women's Soccer Playoffs.

The loss drops the Lancers to 11-6-1 overall but may not end their season. They still have an outside chance at an at-large berth into the NAIA Tournament but will not know until next week.

The Sea Lions improve to 13-4 and advance to Friday's semifinals against Vanguard.

PLNU out-shot the Lancers, 15-7, including an 11-3 mark in the second half. However, the game's only goal came in the first half when the teams had 4 shots apiece.

Grover slid her 15^th goal of the season past a diving Ashley Aranda in the 38^th minute, converting an assist from Nicole Johnson and Jennifer Tan. The Sea Lion defense then clamped down, giving the Lancers few chances.

Aranda made 6 saves, 5 of them in the second half.
