After playing 90 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Lancers exploded for a trio of goals in overtime to sprint past Cal State San Marcos, 3-0, Tuesday in both team's season-openers.
The win moves the Lancers to 1-0 on the season while the Cougars fall to 0-1 after dropping their first game in program history.

“It was definitely a case of first game jitters,” said California Baptist co-head coach Sean Bowers. “It took us way too long to figure out how to break them down. On a positive note, though, we still had legs in the 100th minute. Tactically, though, it just took us way to long to figure them out.”

Freshman Joanna Idom put the exclamation point on the win with her first collegiate goal in the 107th minute when she collected a loose ball off a Cougar goal kick, weaved her way past a pair of defenders and Moore and walked the ball into the net.
All-GSAC keeper Heather Andrews needed to make 5 saves to post her first shutout of the season.
