SUNKEN STREAK

HONOLULU, Hawaii ? If you take the third quarter away from California Baptist's 12-7 loss to No. 5 Hawaii, the Lancers would have just missed knocking off the Rainbow Wahine.
The Lancers (19-6) fall for the first time since Feb. 16 when CBU lost in the opening game of the Roadrunner Invitational. It was also that day that the Lancers sparked a 15-game winning streak over the last month.
Seven goals scored by Hawaii in the third quarter sank any hopes of CBU possibly continuing its winning streak. The Lancers trailed just 2-1 through the first quarter and matched the Rainbow Wahine in the second with each scoring a goal to make it 3-2 at the half.
Hawaii put it away in the third taking a 10-5 lead after the Lancers could answer with just three goals. Each team ripped a pair of pair of goals in the fourth.
Chelsea Gentry led the way with four goals for the Lancers while Corrie Stuursma, Cydney Owen and Whitney Shaw each scored single goals. Stuursma notched three steals and Julie Snodgrass and Collette Brown each had two.
Julie Abendschein recorded 10 saves in the losing effort.
The Lancers will now play No. 14 Cal State Northridge, tomorrow at 2 p.m., in Honolulu.
