SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. ? California Baptist needed two goals in the final two minutes to force overtime and secured the win with a goal in the final OT period in a 7-6 win over Notre Dame. The Lancers (18-5) then downed Occidental, 12-3, in their final game of the Cal State San Bernardino Tournament.
CBU trailed 4-3 in the fourth before tying the game at four just minutes before the end of regulation. Both teams scored a pair of goals in the first overtime period before Collette Brown scored the game-winning goal in the final overtime period to give the Lancers the win.
Cydney Owen scored a hat trick in the game while Julie Snodgrass scored a pair of goals. Brown and Chelsea Gentry each scored solo goals as well.
Julie Abendschein notched seven saves while Kayla Lind recorded five.
In the final game of the tournament, Owen Brown and Whitney Shaw each scored a pair of goals while Chelsea Gentry, Owen, Krista Chacon, Ashleigh Wheeler, and Rachel Esau all scored single goals.
Abendschein, Lind and Kristen Post split duties in net to combine for 13 saves. Abendschein and Lind each had five while Post had three.
Both of the wins extends California Baptist's winning streak to 14 straight.
The Lancers will now host Wheaton, Tuesday, at 3 p.m.
