In its first game of the day, CBU faced off against Pacific, who jumped out to an early lead. By halftime UOP had stretched its advantage to three, 5-2. The Lancers did not back down, however, as they powered back to tie the contest, 5-5, halfway through the third quarter. In the end, Pacific proved too much for the Lancers, as they pulled away for the two-point victory.
Jennifer Grutz and Petra Kovacs each had a pair of goals to lead the Lancers in the scoring column.
CBU then looked to knock off Santa Clara, in its second game of the tournament. Game two for the Lancers progressed much the same as the first did though, with Santa Clara jumping out to an early lead, going up 4-2 at halftime. CBU once again charged back to a 5-5 tie in the third quarter, then took a 6-5 lead heading into the final period. The Broncos quickly answered early in the fourth quarter, retaking the lead, and the win.
Grutz added another pair of scores in the contest, bringing her tournament total to four. Kylie Chevalier also added two goals for the Lancers.
The Lancers take on Concordia on Tuesday. The game is slated for 3 p.m., at the Lancer Aquatics Center.
