SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- After a 4-2 tough loss to No. 9 San Diego State, No. 19 California Baptist University bounced back with an impressive 11-8 win over #18 UC San Diego.

Kovacs tallied the second half hat-trick, scoring two in the third quarter. With goals from Tania Acavedo, her first of thwo, and Montano's second, the Lancers lead was pushed to two to start the fourth and stretched to three after CBU outscored UCSD 2-1 in the fourth.

Despite a strong effort in a close contest, CBU had their 13 game winning streak snapped by No. 9 San Diego State, falling to the Aztecs 4-2.
The Lancers had two goals taken away in the first half that proved to be more costly than normal, as both teams scored way less than their average.

The game stood scoreless before SDSU struck first on a penalty shot and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
At 2:39 left in the third quarter, Christina (Webb) Young had her shot on goal tipped by an SDSU defender but had enough on it to skip pass the Aztec goalie at tie the game at 1-1.
SDSU answered 16 seconds later to take back the lead, but a quick transition placed opportunity in the lap of the Lancers after an exclusion on the Aztecs. Following a time-out, Laura Kocsis found the back of the net to force another tie.
Two early 6-on-5 opportunities for SDSU put them up two goals by the 5:54 mark in the fourth quarter and the Lancers couldn't respond on the scoreboard.
Rogers tallied six saves.
CBU's trip continues on to Santa Barbara, where the Lancers will face ranked CSU Northridge at 3 p.m. and UC Santa Barbara at 6:30 p.m.
