Oaks Will Debut Close to Home

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Ten days after being activated from the disabled list, former California Baptist University ace pitcher Trevor Oaks was promoted to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the Los Angeles Dodgers' class-A advanced affiliate, on Friday.
Oaks is scheduled to make his Quakes debut Sunday against the Lake Elsinore Storm at 5:05 p.m. at Loan Mart Field, which is less than 25 miles from James W. Totman Stadium. The right-hander has made 18 appearances and 16 starts with the Dodgers' class-A Great Lakes Loons. In 102 innings, he has maintained a 5-5 record, 2.56 earned-run average and 0.96 WHIP. He has also logged two complete games, struck out 58 batters -- compared to 14 walks -- and held opposing offenses to a .221 batting average.
There was no drop off in Oaks' stuff after he returned from his 24-day trip to the disabled list on Aug. 4th. He allowed just one hit and struck out two through two innings. Five days later, he went 3.2 innings and struck out four batters, with one hit and run on his line, which led to his promotion to Rancho Cucamonga.
Oaks is one of four Lancers currently living out their dreams in minor league baseball. Caleb Dirks was recently promoted to the Dodgers' double-A Tulsa Drillers and has yet to allow a run through five innings with his new squad. Sharif Othman continues to impress with the Miami Marlins' double-A Jacksonville Suns, batting .240 with 23 runs batted in as a catcher. Seventeen appearances into his minor league career, Adam Hofacket has maintained a 3-0 record and 3.43 ERA, to go with five saves, with the Orem Owlz, one of the rookie squads of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
