CBU Opens With a Bang

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 25 California Baptist University left the West Coast and journeyed eastward this weekend to the Indiana Invitational, hosted by the Indiana University Hoosiers. The Lancers faced McKendree University to open the invitational and most definitely set the tone for the weekend, coming out on top of the Bearcats 20-2.
It improved the Lancers to 6-6 on the season, while McKendree drops to 3-7.
Multiple players got in on the scoring action, including three goals apiece from Paizlee Dreyer and Lizette Perez, two goals each from Abi Auer, Allie Coleman, Brittany McWaid, Jessica Castellano, and Chase Kelly, while Pua Wong, Annie Eubanks, Madison Gonzales and Jocelyn Schwegler also added one goal each.
Defensively, redshirt senior goalie Lina Medeiros only allowed two goals while posting 15 saves and adding three assists on the day.
The Lancers were 3-5 on powerplay situations, while holding the Bearcats to 1-4 in the 6-on-5 setups. CBU also shot 55 percent, making 20 of the 36 shots they took.
CBU looks to build off today's momentum and finish the Invitational strong tomorrow, where they face Carthage College and then Indiana University at 7 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. PDT, respectively.
