
Lancers Notch First Home Win of 2019

CBU secured its first home win in the process, with a 10-6 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the evening. The 24th-ranked Lancers continued their challenging start to the season with their fifth game against a top-18 ranked opponent in No. 6 UC Irvine in the morning. The Anteaters picked up the 17-6 victory, while CBU hung tight with them in the second half, 7-5.
Krista Krantz led CBU with three goals and three sprints won versus the Athenas. Kira O'Donell also had two goals for the Lancers, while Megan Rocha had 13 saves and three steals in the cage.

At halftime, CBU and CMS were tied at 4-4, but the Lancers pulled away with a 5-0 run to start the second half. Krantz and O'Donell each had two goals in the run, while Fugit and Pua Wong had one each.

Grace Ramirez had 12 saves and two steals against UCI.

Lizette Perez and Morgan Baker each had two goals and a drawn ejection. Jamie Hutton scored, had an assist and drew an exclusion, as well, on the Anteaters.

CBU is now 2-4 this season, with all four losses coming against teams currently ranked in the top 10 and three in the top six of the NCAA. UC Irvine improves to 3-1 and CMS starts out 0-2.
The Lancers are back on the road next week at the Arizona State Tournament Saturday and Sunday. CBU will face two more top-10 ranked opponents, with a rematch versus No. 10 UC Santa Barbara and games against fifth-ranked host Arizona State, along with Iona and Cal State Monterey Bay.
