BOX SCORE
STOCKTON, Calif. – A hat trick from Lizette Perez and three-goal run at the end of the game highlighted California Baptist University's Golden Coast Conference game at Pacific on Friday night.
It started what is the 25th-ranked Lancers' toughest streak of the GCC season, with the seventh-ranked Tigers winning the game 15-7 at Chris Kjeldsen Pool. CBU is now 13-13, 1-2 in the conference going into another big league game at No. 15 Fresno State Saturday at 1 p.m.
Â
Grace Ramirez also had 10 saves and two steals in the cage for the Lancers, who had five players score on Friday.
The Tigers have arguably been the biggest riser in the NCAA over the last five years, going from an unranked team to now the No. 7 team in the country. Pacific has made the GCC championship game the last three years and won the last two conference titles, with a 48-25 record over the last three seasons.
Even so, CBU matched up well with Pacific in the opening minutes. The Tigers got on the board 2:16 into the game before the Lancers answered right back on a powerplay goal from Kira O'Donell to make it 1-1 at the 5:34 mark.
Â
Perez broke up a Pacific run with her first goal about halfway through the second quarter. CBU put together its first run of the game on back-to-back goals from freshman Maddie Schwegler and sophomore Amy Branch in the third quarter.
Another freshman, Jamie Hutton, scored with less than four minutes to play, while Perez added two more goals before the game was over to secure her hat trick.
