RIVERSIDE, Calif. – For the third time in his career, Adam Hofacket earned a promotion to Triple-A with the Los Angeles Angels.
The California Baptist University product made two appearances with the Salt Lake Bees before being placed on the seven-day injured list. Hofacket last took the mound for Bees on Saturday, a game that fellow former Lancer Tyson Miller started for the Iowa Cubs.
Miller earned his second win with Iowa by throwing 5.1 innings in which he allowed just one run and struck out five. Hofacket threw three innings of relief after a 2.2 inning appearance out of the bullpen six days earlier.
On the year, Hofacket has a 3-3 record, six saves, a 2.67 ERA and 58 strikeouts over 57.1 innings and 32 games combined in Double and Triple-A. Miller has a 6-5 record and 3.97 ERA in 22 games this year. He also has a 1.22 WHIP and 103 strikeouts to just 36 walks over 115.2 innings.
The Angels drafted Hofacket in the 10th round at 315th overall in 2015 to make him a top-five pick in CBU history. He ranks fifth all-time for the Lancers with a 2.66 career earned-run average. He also ranks sixth in career strikeouts (198) and innings pitched (253.2), seventh in complete games (seven) and ninth in wins (19).
Miller and Hofacket are two of eight Lancers currently active in minor league baseball. Trevor Oaks is still on the injured list with the Kansas City Royals, while Justin Montgomery, Andrew Bash, and Matt Mogollon are all pitching in rookie leagues. Logan Rinehart has already been promoted to the Seattle Mariners' Class-A full season West Virginia Power in his first minor league season.
Caleb Dirks is on a rehab assignment with the Atlanta Braves' Class-A Advanced Florida Fire Frogs. He has a 2-1 record and 2.40 ERA over nine games and three starts. He also has a .107 WHIP and 11 strikeouts to two walks.
