
CBU Sweeps Day Two of Tina Finale Invite

Vicky Ochoa highlighted the day with a team-high six goals over both games, while Amy Branch and Jamie Hutton also scored hat tricks on Saturday, while Grace Ramirez had 18 saves over both contests. The Lancers head into March on a three-game winning streak, as they improve to 9-4 on the season as the 25th-ranked team in the NCAA. It is the team's best 13-game start to a season since 2007 when it finished 19-11 overall.
CBU will play four more games next week at the Claremont Convergence Tournament. CBU opens against against St. Francis (Brooklyn) and Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) on Friday, March 6 at 12:30 and 4:15 p.m., respectively, and will then play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, March 7 at 11:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.
In game one, CBU led from wire-to-wire to defeat Cal State Monterey Bay.by an impressive 16-5 final score. The Lancers rushed out to a 4-0 lead thanks to goals from the hands of four different scorers: Katie Quon, Ochoa, Hutton and Morgan Baker. The trio of Maddie Meza, Maddie Schwegler and Megan Henry got in on the goal-scoring action for the Lancers late in the second half, following Ochoa's second of the game at the 3:16 mark.

CBU went into halftime with an 8-2 advantage. Ochoa picked up her third and fourth goals of the game in the third quarter to set a new career-high for goals in a single contest. Kira O'Donell also joined the goal-scoring frenzy for the Lancers in the final minute of action in the third.
The Lancers saved the best for last and scored five more in the fourth quarter and shut out the Otters in the process. Hutton netted her second goal of the game, while Krista Krantz added two of her own to set a new season-high. Then, Nicole Rhoads and Nikkol Webber scored one apiece to give the Lancers 11 different goal-scorers in the game, which they closed out on a 7-0 run.
Hutton finished with a game-high high five points on three assists and two goals and added two steals. Krantz (two goals, two assists) and Quon both had four points each, as well. Meza finished with three steals, two assists and a goal, as well.

Game two was highlighted by a pair of hat-tricks from Hutton and Branch versus Sonoma State. Branch added two assists to give her five points in the game, while O'Donell had three points (two assists, a goal), two steals and two drawn ejections. Quon also had two assists and Henry added a goal, assist and steal in the game.
CBU jumped on Sonoma State early, with goals from O'Donell and Branch giving it a 2-0 advantage just one minute into the contest. The Lancers were resilient as Sonoma State made a pair of comebacks to tie the game. Schwegler broke a 2-2 deadlock and Hutton snapped a 3-3 tie to give CBU the 4-3 edge at the end of the first. It would prove to be a lead the Lancers would not relinquish.
The second period was much like the first, with CBU netting the first two goals, followed by a two-goal rebuttal from Sonoma State. The Lancers again weathered the storm to pick up two more goals and extend the lead to three to end the first half.

CBU would go on to lead by as much as six in the fourth period, before walking away with a 12-9 victory.
