Plaia Named WAC Hitter of the Week

RIVERSIDE – Nick Plaia earned the Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week award after helping California Baptist University to its first series sweep of the season.
Plaia batted .533 and slugged .733 with a .611 on-base percentage over four games last week. He logged eight hits, three doubles, four runs batted in and four more scored, with a stolen base on the week. He had at least one hit in all four games and multiple hits in three contests.
CBU outscored Houston Baptist 39-4 over three games to secure the series sweep. The Lancers improved to 5-5 on the year heading into five-straight road games, starting with a four-game series at Nevada Thursday through Sunday and a one-off trip to the University of San Diego on Tuesday.
Overall, Plaia brought his season numbers to a .441 batting average, .618 slugging and .537 on-base percentages this season for an OPS of 1.155. He has seven RBI, five extra-base hits (four doubles, one triple), 10 runs scored and three stolen bases.
