Makayla Jordan drove in two runs with a single up the middle and Deja Westbrook made it through 3-0 with an RBI single of her own.
SMC fought back and forced extra innings with a three-run sixth inning. Both offenses were held scoreless in the seventh, but CBU got things going again in the eighth.
Ashley McBay was placed on second to start the inning due to the international tie-breaker rule. Maile Olsen laid down a sacrifice bunt to move her to third and Patrick's bunt single brought her home for a 4-3 edge.
The Gaels put two runners in scoring position with one out in the eighth, but Goldsmith struck out the next two batters to end the game in CBU's favor.
