D1Softball Names CBU in List of Top Transfer Classes

RIVERSIDE --- D1Softball, a national publication covering softball across Division I, released its list of the top 40 transfer classes for the 2027 season. Following the best season in the program's Division I era, California Baptist was named the No. 34 transfer class among a list of Power Four and mid-major programs.
The list, released on Wednesday, includes 31 Power Four programs and nine mid-majors. Of the mid-majors, the Lancers have the ninth-best transfer class entering the season.
Head coach Brandon Telesco and his staff brought in six transfers to round out the 2027 roster. CBU won a Division I era record 43 games last season, resulting in the first WAC regular-season and conference championships in program history. The Lancers earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament, where they drew a spot in the Los Angeles Regional.
CBU's transfer class includes additions to both the infield and the pitching circle. The transfer class brings championship experience from the Big Ten, Big 12, Mountain West, and WAC. The additions also showcase a combined 12 seasons with over 380 games played.
The infield sees three new infielders and a catcher come into the fold. Camryn Gordon joins the Lancers after being named to the WCC All-Freshman Team last year with Oregon State. Gordon hit .314 with nine RBI in her debut campaign. Sadie Kirk comes to Riverside after two seasons with Weber State. Kirk has a career average of .330 and was a First-Team All-Big Sky selection in 2025. Odyssey Torres, a Riverside native, returns home after three seasons with UMass. Torress, a senior, was a First-Team All-MAC selection last year after batting .414. Avery Motroni rounds out the infield additions after transferring from Arizona State. Motroni, a catcher, appeared in 22 games in her freshman year.
Alina Satcher is a utility addition to the roster. Satcher, a two-way player, comes to CBU after three seasons at Grand Canyon, where she made 15 appearances in the circle and recorded over 80 career at-bats (10 home runs). Rowan Thompson rounds out the transfer list as an addition to the pitching staff. Thompson comes to CBU after two seasons at Oregon.
The Lancers also return several core members from last season's record-setting team. RHP Miranda De Nava, the WAC Pitcher of the Year, returns after setting a CBU Division I era record with 178 strikeouts. Victoria Macias is back for her second season with the Lancers. Macias' walk-off home run to end the regular season clinched the WAC Championship for the Lancers. Outfielder Matti Severns returns after setting a CBU record with 32 stolen bases. CBU returns 15 players from the 2026 roster.
