Fresno Pacific scored first, but the Lancers went on a 4-0 run thanks to an opportunistic defense and transition offense. Schwegler, Jamie Hutton, Martinez and Morgan Baker all scored in that stretch.
The Sunbirds managed to fight back within a goal on several occasions but CBU never let them tie the score. FPU cut its deficit to 8-7 and 9-8 deficit in the third quarter, but back-to-back goals from Fugit kept CBU in front.
Another goal Schwegler increased the Lancers' lead back out to three, 11-8, with a minute left in the third quarter. CBU unleashed another 3-0 run sparked by two goals from O'Donell and Schwegler's third of the game to inflate the Lancers' lead to 14-9 with 3:32 to play.
