
Lancers Sweep Purdue Fort Wayne To Improve to 7-0 in 2022

The Lancers improve to 7-0 on the season and are one of 18 undefeated teams left in NCAA Division I after the completion of games played across the country on Sunday. The Mastodons drop to 0-8 on the year.
Three true freshmen pitchers shutout the Mastodons through seven innings on Sunday. Anthony Silvas earned his second win by throwing five shutout innings. He worked around five hits and two walks and struck out a pair. Despite a one-out error that put runners at the corners with no outs, junior pitcher Ryan Silva shutout PFW in the ninth inning.
Nine Lancers combined for 13 hits in the game. Harrison Spohn collected three hits and RBI in the game, including his 42nd double as a Lancer. He now ranks top-12 in CBU's career record books for two-baggers.

Jake Skipworth recorded his third multi-RBI game of the season and second of the week, with three more to go with two hits and a double on Sunday. Chad Castillo had two hits and scored twice in the game.

CBU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the game, thanks to a four-run second inning fueled by RBI singles from David Martin, Castillo, Jake Skipworth and Michael Carpentier. The Lancers also scored in the first inning after a walk to Martin, Spohn single and RBI grounder from Skipworth.

The Lancers plated four more runs in the sixth inning. Spohn (single), Skipworth (double) and Connor Clift (single) all had RBI base hits in the frame, while Russell Stevenson drew a bases-loaded walk as a pinch hitter.
After PFW scored in the eighth inning, CBU added two more runs in the bottom half after a double to Shayne Simpson, walks to Trevor Cadd, Ryan Kim and a two-out error that brought in both runs.The Lancers score four more runs in the sixth to take a 9️⃣-0️⃣ lead. UP NEXT
CBU will open Western Athletic Conference play next week when it welcomes Grand Canyon to Totman Stadium. It will wrap up the Lancers' 10-game homestand, as the three-game series will be played Friday through Sunday, with respective start times at 6 p.m., 5 p.m. and noon. The Lopes shared the regular-season WAC title with CBU in 2021 and won the conference tournament to punch their ticket to the NCAA postseason.
