3/20/2022 2:57:00 PM | Baseball
The Lancers' 23 runs tied their season high and NCAA Division I record for a single game, while their 20 hits were a new best in 2022. Four different players hit homers in the game: Russell Stevenson, Josiah Chavez, Josiah Bryant and Matt Palomino, with Chavez, Bryant and Palomino all picking up their first career hits via the long ball.
It locks up the series victory over the Bulldogs for CBU, as it improved to 13-5 this season. Yale, the preseason favorite in the Ivy League, moves to 7-6 this season.
Four Lancers extended lengthy hitting streaks on Sunday. Jake Skipworth tied CBU's NCAA-era record for a single-season hitting streak, as he went 2-for-3. He now has a hit in the last 17 games he's logged a plate appearance. It's the first time since Andy Crowley's 17-game hitting streak in 2015 that a Lancer has accomplished that feat in a season.
