FRESNO – California Baptist University women's water polo continued Golden Coast Conference play against eighth-ranked Fresno State, the preseason favorite and current top dog in standings, on Friday.

The Lancers put together a strong defensive effort, holding the Bulldogs to 10 goals in a 10-4 loss at the Fresno State Aquatics Center. Madison Gerg eclipsed double-digit saves for the second game in a row with 12 overall and two steals.

Fresno State improves to 13-7 on the year and 4-0 in GCC play as it extends its winning streak to 10 games. CBU moves to 12-12 and 0-3.

Jamie Hutton, Kira O'Donell, Morgan Baker and Cayleigh Carter all scored in the game for CBU. O'Donell has now scored in the last 21 games this season.

CBU's defense was stout and held FSU to just two goals in the first quarter. The Bulldogs were limited to no more than two goals in three of the four quarters, the lone exception being five goals in the second.

UP NEXT
CBU will end its weekend road trip with a visit to Stockton to take on University of the Pacific on Saturday, April 2 at 11 a.m. The Tigers are currently ranked 16^th in the NCAA and were picked to take second in the GCC this preseason.

The Lancers will be back at home on Thursday, April 7 to host Loyola Marymount at 6 p.m. CBU will close out the conference and regular season with a road game at Azusa Pacific (Saturday, April 9) and then Senior Day versus San Diego State in Riverside on Thursday, April 14.
