SAN DIEGO – California Baptist University baseball dropped a mid-week game at the University of San Diego, 9-2, on Tuesday.

Russell Stevenson scored both runs with a homer in the game, while Chad Castillo extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a double that nearly left Fowler Park. The Lancers move to 29-16 this season, while the Toreros improve to 31-16.

Harrison Spohn, Michael Carpentier, Jake Skipworth and Marty Munoz also had hits in the game for CBU. On the mound, Drew Necochea, Carson Olsen and Ryan Silva all threw at least one scoreless inning in relief for the Lancers.

San Diego had two big innings, with three runs in the first and four more in the seventh. The Toreros came into the week receiving votes in two NCAA Division I polls. USD is second in the West Coast Conference standings and has posted eight 30-win seasons over the last 10 years and reached the NCAA Regionals twice over that span to give them eight NCAA Tournaments appearances.

CBU's final extended road trip of the season continues with a Western Athletic Conference series at Seattle U this weekend. The first two games will be played at 10:35 a.m. on Friday-Saturday, May 13-14, with the finale at noon on Sunday, May 15. The Lancers will play another road game at the University of Washington on Tuesday, May 17.
