Lancers Open Joust with Huge 17-2 Win over CSU Fullerton

RIVERSIDE – The annual Joust tournament hosted by California Baptist University women's water polo started with a lopsided victory in favor of the host Lancers who took down Cal State Fullerton 17-2 on Thursday night.
Four Lancers' recorded multiple goals against the Titans, led by a hat trick from freshman Emaly Hutton who scored all three in the first half. Jamie Hutton, Grace Bergquist, and Avery Wood all tossed in a pair of scores helping CBU dominate wire-to-wire.
The Lancer defense was stout, holding the Titans scoreless for the first three-and-a-half quarters before CSUF got two in the final two minutes of play. Tyanna Schneider was a brick wall for three periods, stopping six shots while nabbing two steals and recording an assist.
Friday's win bumps CBU's record up to 4-3, with four more games on deck this weekend. Saturday will pit the Lancers against UC Irvine at 11:15 a.m., and then Redlands at 6:45 p.m. Admission to the Joust is free at the Lancer Aquatics Center on the campus of CBU.
