RIVERSIDE – California Baptist wrapped up day two of The Joust tournament with split results, dropping the opener to No. 6 UC Irvine 20-6 before taking down Redlands in the nightcap by a score of 15-5. The result pushes the Lancers to move to 5-4 on the season

Melinna Galbraith led the offensive action for CBU on Friday, recording four goals and an assist in two games.

GAME ONE: CBU 6 – UC IRVINE 20

Despite the tight defense, the Anteaters jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead and never looked back. UCI started fast and kept the scoring pace high all game long to earn their second win of the season.

Six Lancers made it into the scoring column in the morning session: Maddie Schwegler, Jamie Hutton, Melinna Galbraith, Emaly Hutton, Celeste Almendariz, and Devyn Ruffer.

GAME TWO: CBU 15 – REDLANDS 5

Friday's nightcap was a show of strength by CBU, who conceded the first goal but scored four unanswered. Redlands notched their second to open the second period, but the Lancers answered with another massive run, shutting the Bulldogs out for the rest of the half and going on a 6-0 that lasted deep into the third quarter.

It was a slower back-and-forth affair in the fourth quarter as the two teams traded goals to reach the final score line of 15-5.

Tyanna Schneider started in the cage for CBU, allowing two and stopping three. Ava Ratajczak held guard in the third quarter, stopping two, including a five-meter penalty shot. Kayla Demski finished the game between the pipes, stopping two and another penalty shot.

The Lancers face tough tests on Saturday, and they take on No. 2 USC at 1:00 p.m. and close out the tournament against No. 8 Long Beach State at 6:00 p.m.
