CBU Baseball Pulls off Upset Over CWS Finalist Sooners in Norman

Josiah Chavez helped the Lancers strike first again, as they did in yesterday's series opener. Chavez registered the RBI single with a shot to center field that brought Michael Carpentier home after a single of his own.
After an Oklahoma sacrifice fly, the Lancers regained the lead with a solo home run by Dusty Garcia out to right field. Garcia had one of the two CBU runs in the opening game on three at-bats.
The eighth inning proved to be the clinching period for CBU as they put three huge runs on the board. Garcia started the proceedings with a triple to deep right field, scoring Garrett Ostrander. Garcia would be brought in on the next play by a Connor McGuire single to open the lead up to two for the Lancers. Mcguire later scored off a balk by Oklahoma to round out the frame for CBU and give them the 5-2 lead. The Lancer's defense rounded out the bottom of the eighth, going three-up-three-down by inducing two ground outs and a fly out to preserve the lead.That's how you start the fifth!! In the bottom of the ninth, CBU found themselves in trouble with the bases loaded and clinging to a three-run advantage. Sophomore Carson Olsen earned the save by delivering the game-clinching strikeout after being inserted into the game one batter earlier.BIG inning for CBU as we open a 5-2 lead on the Sooners. 4 hits for the Lancers in the inning, including a big triple by Dusty Garcia, who is having himself a day! 🗣️🔥🔥 One more inning to go. 👀

Garcia continued a strong start to the season for the Lancers, ending the day with two runs and two RBI on two hits, a triple and homerun. Carpentier was locked in at the plate as well, going 4-5 with two doubles and a run scored.
