Lancers Finish Indiana Trip Overall Winners with Sunday Split

BLOOMINGTON, IN – California Baptist University water polo closed out the Indiana Classic with a Sunday split, taking the early game 22-12 over Salem before Wagner took the finale by a score of 16-12. The Lancers return home with an improved 9-10 record after going 3-1 in Hoosier Country.

GAME ONE: CBU 22 – SALEM 12

The Lancers kept up their momentum in the Indiana Classic, posting the second double-digit victory in three games in the competition. It started tight enough, with Salem taking an early lead, but CBU put that to rest early and led 10-5 at halftime. The second half saw CBU increase its lead with an exceptionally potent fourth quarter, where the Lancers scored seven of the game's final eight goals.

Jamie Hutton popped off, posting a double hat trick on Sunday morning. Grace Bergquist also recorded a hat trick against the Tigers, her first of the season.

GAME TWO: WAGNER 16 – CBU 12

The tournament finale for CBU didn't go the Lancers' way, but they battled for all 32 minutes. Emaly Hutton paced the Lances on offense with four goals in the match. Dora Lehoczky has had a bountiful trip to the Midwest, posting a hat trick in all four games in Indiana, giving her five-straight games with three goals.

CBU returns to California but remains away from Riverside as their next tournament takes them to Thousand Oaks, where they will face Occidental, Toronto, Cal Lu, and Cal State Fullerton from February 24-25.
